Village Tour

Tour Overview

Cemara Rompes (CMR) offers village walking tours!  In our 30-minute / 1-hour tour, we step aside from the main street and explore narrower paths of the neighbourhood to meet weavers.  Through the tour, you can learn about the process of weaving in detail with English or Indonesian guidance.

People receive our visit voluntarily.  Most of the weavers are loving mothers and grandmothers, and they are sometimes busy with caring for children, cooking and washing.  They are most active in weaving in mornings (around 6-11am).

To observe as much variety of weaving styles as possible, come to visit our gallery in the morning, or contact us beforehand so that we can make an appointment with weavers 🙂

Respect the Community

Because we walk into real homes and neighbourhood where people live their everyday lives, it is expected for you to be aware of local manners and privacy (greeting and asking a permission before photos), as well as to wear respectfully (preferably covering thighs and chests, both men and women).

The locals are Muslims.  Both the weavers and the shopkeeper take moments for prayer five times a day.   We sincerely appreciate your patience if you find us unavailable for those occasions.   Prayer usually takes around 10 minutes for the shopkeeper.  To ensure regular opening hours, please check the shop info.
